Nancy’s Story
Just a bit about me… I’m a survivor of child abuse. If you can imagine it, I’ve probably lived it. On March 9, 1978, at seven and a half years old, I witnessed the unimaginable: the murder of my little sister Sally, who was only six, at the hands of our mother and stepfather.
Her case was originally classified as an unsolved cold case. But in 2002, thanks to the Calhoun County Cold Case Team in Battle Creek, Michigan, the truth finally came to light. My mother was released on a technicality. My stepfather was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. The trial concluded in early 2005.
Not long after, A&E’s Cold Case Files contacted the investigators and produced a documentary about Sally’s story. You can find it in The Punishment, Season 3, Episode 25.
You’ll find pieces of my childhood woven throughout this blog. It shaped who I am—and I truly love the woman I’ve become.
Today, I’m a mother to three grown children and a proud grandmother to two grandsons. I’m politically active, spiritually grounded, and proudly a VERY OPEN-MINDED conservative. I may not always agree with your views, but I’ll always respect your voice. We all deserve space to speak truth without fear of being silenced or bullied.
